Nurturing Independence and Early Skills in our Preppies Room (34 – 48 Months)
By the time the children reach three years old, they have a much more skilled approach to play and exploration. Our Preppies Room is a large area located on the first floor with their own roof terrace. Children have a more structured routine, with the focus being on developing independence as well as learning throughout all areas of the EYFS. Each day, the children can choose from a range of learning opportunities, both inside and out. We support each child through focus-led learning that prepare them for our Pre-school Department.
Independence & Life Skills
In the Preppies Room, children engage in a variety of activities designed to foster independence and essential life skills. Here, they learn to wipe their own nose and acquire practical skills like baking cakes. They also have free access to their toilets, receiving support in important personal hygiene routines and independence skills, such as washing their hands after using the toilet and before every snack and mealtime. At mealtimes and snack-times, the children are provided with self-serve opportunities, promoting their physical development and further enhancing their independence skills.
Refreshed and Ready for Action-Packed Fun and Learning!
Our Preppies love their Circle times which are an important part of our daily routine. These short sessions engage them in activities that help them to learn and grow. Our cosy, carpeted areas provide a comfortable space for our children to access story-time, music sessions, counting songs, colour and shape learning, puppet shows, show and tell and plenty of other opportunities for children to develop fundamental skills and learning in all areas of the EYFS. During gathering times, children also participate in phonics sessions where they learn simple phonics through singing and playing games.
